Reserved matters permission has been granted for the houses at Ashton Park, to the south of the town, which will be the first phase of a larger development.
Overall, the housebuilder is seeking to deliver up to 2,500 new homes in the area.
Last year, a joint venture between Persimmon and Barratt Redrow received outline planning permission.
Once complete, the long-term scheme will have delivered capital contributions of £25.6m from developers, and a Community Infrastructure Levy contribution of £7.5m for local projects.

An additional £5.4m will also be ringfenced for the local Council to provide offsite affordable housing, with 27% of onsite homes reserved for local housing association partners.
“Our plans to bring much-needed new homes to Trowbridge has been many years in the making, so we are very excited to have reached this milestone allowing us to start construction on the first phase at Ashton Park,” said Seb Spiller, managing director at Persimmon Homes Wessex.
“Persimmon’s scheme at Ashton Park will leave a positive and lasting legacy and we cannot wait to get started on site."
